News tabuk emir inaugurates and lays foundation for 48 water, sanitation, and agricultural projects at over sr 4.4 billion

hrh prince fahd bin sultan bin abdulaziz, emir of tabuk region, inaugurated today at the principality headquarters, in the presence of engineer abdulrahman bin abdulmohsen al-fadhli, minister of environment, water and agriculture, 23 development projects for the environment, water, and agriculture system in the region, at a cost exceeding 3.8 billion saudi riyals. the emir also laid the foundation stone for 25 projects at a cost of over 580 million saudi riyals to serve the region's residents, support environmental, and water sustainability, in line with the goals of the kingdom's vision 2030.the emir of tabuk region extended his thanks and appreciation to king salman bin abdulaziz al saud, the custodian of the two holy mosques, and his royal highness the crown prince, prime minister, may god protect them, for their interest in everything that provides environmental, water and agricultural services to the region's population. hrh lauded that the continuous efforts of the minister of environment, water, and agriculture and the employees of the ministry and its affiliated sectors in providing services to beneficiaries and achieving food security for the kingdom. the emir emphasized that these development projects are a continuation of the great support that citizens and residents in general, and tabuk region in particular, receive from the wise leadership, may god support them, to improve the quality of life and establish projects that have a direct impact on human life.for his part, engineer al-fadhli affirmed that the launched projects come in support of achieving environmental, water and agricultural sustainability, in accordance with the goals of the kingdom's vision 2030, and improve the quality of life in the tabuk region. the minister praised hrh region. engineer al-fadhli pointed out that the saudi water authority (swa) completed two water projects at a cost of more than 2.3 billion saudi riyals, including a project to construct small desalination plants on the west coast with a design capacity of 93,500 m3 per day to increase the supply of desalinated water in the fields of dheba, al-wajh, and umluj. swa also completed a project to construct compact desalination stations with a design capacity of 72,000 m3 per day to increase the supply of desalinated water in the dheba and umluj fields.the inaugurated projects included 16 projects implemented by the national water company (nwc) to enhance the drinking water distribution system and deliver water and sanitation services in the tabuk region, at a cost of over 860.6 million saudi riyals, including 6 water projects at a cost of over 309 million saudi riyals, that the laying down of more than 290,000 meters of water lines and networks, a purification plant with a capacity of 150,000 cubic meters per day, in addition to the construction of four operational reservoirs with a storage capacity of 6,500 cubic meters, as part of the implementation of water purification plant projects for the comprehensive tabuk water project, the implementation of drinking water networks in the city of tabuk (phase 9), the implementation of drinking water networks in dheba governorate, and the drinking water networks and reservoirs project for the villages of dheba governorate (phase 1), in addition to the implementation of drinking water networks in the districts of abu shajara, al-jaboun, al-ulya, and al-naseem in umluj governorate, and the implementation of the remaining works of the drinking water networks project (phase 5) in taymaa governorate.the national water company (nwc) has also implemented projects to promote environmental sustainability and eliminate environmental damage to the population in tabuk region. these projects included construction of 10 sanitation projects at a cost of over sr 551.6 million, covering more than 433,000 meters of sanitation networks and main lines, in addition, treatment plants with a total capacity of approximately 25,000 cubic meters per day were constructed, along with the implementation of a sewage lines and networks project in tabuk city (phase 12), the extension of sewage networks in the districts of durrat tabuk and alia 2, the establishment of sewage networks in the districts of al-murooj and al-dahia in dheba governorate, the implementation of sewage networks in tayma (phase 5), the expansion of the treatment plant in al-wajh (phase 3), the implementation of the sewage project in umluj governorate (phase one), extending the discharge line from the main pumping station to the treatment plant in umluj governorate, the backup power supply project for treatment plants in tabuk governorates, and the project to deliver sewage services to tabuk university dormatory.the saudi water partnership company (swpc) implemented a project to construct the tabuk (2) plant for wastewater treatment, with a design capacity of 90,000 m3 per day, reaching at peak 135,000 m3, at a total cost of over 550 million saudi riyals, in order to eliminate the environmental impact and utilize treated water in industry and irrigation.the general organization for irrigation (sio) completed two projects to regain well water and prevent flash floods, at a cost of over 92 million saudi riyals, including the construction of the fourth group of dams in the tabuk region (al-baqar dam), with a storage capacity exceeding 3.7 million cubic meters, and the project to construct and complete repairs to the wadi dam in tabuk region, with a storage capacity exceeding 2.5 million cubic meters. two projects were implemented for the cultivation and production of mangrove trees north of the red sea and the protection of new pastoral reserves in the region by the national center for vegetation development and combating desertification (ncvc), at a cost exceeding sr 18 million.in the same context, the national water company implemented 16 projects whose foundation stone were laid at a cost exceeding sr 468.5 million, and a project for the saudi irrigation organization (sio) at a cost of approximately sr 49 million. the ministry of environment, water and agriculture is also implementing two projects at a total cost of over 7.7 million saudi riyals, while the sustainable agricultural rural development program is implementing five projects in the region at a cost of over 45 million saudi riyals. the national center for vegetation development and desertification control (ncvc) is also implementing a project worth approximately sr 10.6 million.​​

News national water company announces full operational readiness for hajj season 2025

​​in preparation for the 2025 hajj season, the national water company (nwc) announced the elevation of its readiness and the completion of its operational and technical plans for managing water and wastewater services in makkah and the holy sites.the company affirmed that it had begun implementing its hajj plan well in advance, working to enhance its services and increase readiness in line with the aspirations of saudi arabia’s wise leadership to mobilize all resources and provide comprehensive support for water and environmental services, enabling pilgrims to perform their rituals with ease and comfort.nwc stated, “from an early stage, we developed strategies and plans, drawing on lessons from previous seasons to improve the quality of services provided to the guests of allah. we have ensured the availability of the necessary water quantities to be supplied and distributed to makkah and the holy sites, with a combined operational and strategic storage capacity of some 3.5 million cubic meters, and an average daily pumping volume exceeding 760,000 cubic meters. on the day of arafah and eid al-adha, however, water pumping will exceed 1 million cubic meters, executed by a qualified workforce of more than 2,000 employees.”the company added that it carried out three operational simulations this year the first in late october, the second in january, and the third in april, leading up to the start of actual operations for the season. these simulations confirmed the operational efficiency of the water distribution networks, firefighting systems, cooling networks, and wastewater infrastructure. additionally, environmental treatment plants have been prepared to the highest standards, with a wastewater treatment capacity exceeding 750,000 cubic meters.nwc also highlighted the recent implementation of 18 capital and operational projects in makkah and the holy sites, at a total cost of sar400 million, aimed at upgrading infrastructure, enhancing water distribution, and improving the efficiency of networks that will support operations during the 2025 hajj season, ensuring top-tier service delivery to the pilgrims.the company emphasized that it has leveraged its advanced technologies to manage operations during hajj, with monitoring and control conducted through centralized command centers in makkah and the holy sites.nwc confirmed that round-the-clock water supply would be maintained to the grand mosque, the central area, and the holy sites, with continuous supply to all makkah neighborhoods that are served by the water network, following scheduled distribution plans.regarding water quality, the company has intensified its efforts to ensure the safety and quality of the water supply—an essential part of its operational system during hajj. this is carried out through a central laboratory equipped with the latest internationally certified technologies, along with fixed and mobile labs at the holy sites. field teams collect samples from primary water sources, operational and strategic storage facilities, and distribution networks in makkah and the holy sites to verify water safety and quality.nwc affirmed that water quality monitoring would continue 24/7 throughout the hajj season, carried out by specialized and well-trained national teams. over 4,000 laboratory tests will be conducted daily during the hajj season 2025.the company concluded by stating that its ongoing efforts reflect a strong commitment to translating plans and strategies into tangible results that serve the pilgrims, ensuring their comfort from arrival to departure after completing their rituals in peace and ease.​

News nwc supplies +15.8 million m3 of water to the two holy mosques in the first 10 days of ramadan

the national water ​company “nwc continues to implement its operational plans prepared for the holy month of ramadan 1446h. it has distributed more than 15.8 million cubic meters of water in makkah and madinah in the first ten days of the holy month and pumped for 24 hours continuously for the two holy mosques and the central areas.the company explained that it has prepared an operational plan for water management and distribution at an early stage with a strategic and operational water storage of about 10 million cubic meters in makkah and madinah to ensure continuous water pumping and provide the necessary water to the population and guests and visitors to the two holy mosques.the company also stated the operational plan in makkah and madinah was characterized by the smooth running and full readiness of employees working around the clock in all service points and operation and maintenance centers spread over large areas to ensure services during the holy month. nwc has also equipped its field teams with modern equipment and machinery to deal with emergencies and technical malfunctions, and prepared the service stations and their equipment in makkah and madinah to receive customer requests and meet their needs.to ensure water quality, the company conducts laboratory tests during the holy month of ramadan. nwc stated that it conducted more than 23,000 laboratory tests in makkah and madinah during the first ten days of the holy month of ramadan to ensure the quality of water and its compliance with international specifications and standards.the company pointed out that it receives customer inquiries and requests through its e-branch and the unified contact number 8004411110 for water services in all regions of the kingdom 24/7 to receive reports and forward them to maintenance teams that work around the clock to ensure that inquiries are answered and the required services are provided.​

News nwc started implementing 17 projects in eastern province at sr +2.2b

​the national water company (nwc), represented by the eastern cluster, announced the start of the implementation of 17 key projects in the region at a cost of more than 2.2 billion saudi riyals. the projects target components of the environmental and water services system, including wastewater treatment plants (wtps), substations, main and feeder pumping and power lines, and network replacement, in order to expand and improve the services provided to the region's residents in a number of governorates and cities. the company said the components of the portfolio of projects that we have started to implement in the eastern province vary, including 3 projects in the city of khobar, most notably the expansion project of the sewage treatment plant at a cost of more than 849 million saudi riyals. the second project is the implementation of the sewage network project in al aziziyah at a cost of more than 160 million saudi riyals to serve the systems (43-2 and 129-2). the third project is the completion of the necessary works to operate the khobar landmark tower at a cost of more than 14 million saudi riyals. this brings the total cost of the projects in al-khobar governorate to 1.02 billion saudi riyals. in the governorate of al-ahsa, the implementation of six projects with a total cost of more than 496 million saudi riyals has been started, one of which is to complete the sewage networks in the cities of hofuf and al-mubarz to serve the districts of sharq al-mahdoud, ain najm and al-jami'een, and another project to serve the districts of al-mubarz.north. nwc explained that the projects include the completion of the sewerage networks in the villages of al-ahsa governorate, the sewerage networks project to serve the districts of south education employees scheme and al-rabiya scheme, in addition to the extension of the sewerage networks in hofuf to the district of al-naseem with the construction of a lift station and a discharge line, and the tanker inlet project to the treatment plant in hofuf to receive the products of dewatering works and stop environmental damage. the company pointed out that it has started the implementation of 3 major projects in al khafji governorate, including the expansion of the sewage treatment plant at a cost of more than 182 million saudi riyals, with the aim of increasing the capacity from 15,000 to 30,000 cubic meters per day and improving the operational efficiency of the environmental services provided, in addition to starting the implementation of the project to complete the sewerage facilities in various areas of the governorate at a cost of more than 139 million saudi riyals, and the project to replace the water networks in various areas of al khafji at a cost of more than 29 million saudi riyals.nwc continues its work in jubail governorate by starting the implementation of two projects, one of which is the construction of sewerage networks for al-hamra project and various districts in the governorate at a cost of more than 177 million saudi riyals, in addition to a project to increase the capacity of existing lift stations and the construction of slope and discharge lines at a cost of more than 78 million saudi riyals.in qatif governorate, the implementation of the sewage network project was started at a cost of more than sr 59 million to serve the districts al-murooj, al-jamiliyin and al-shati. in al-qarya al-oliya governorate, the implementation of the project to complete the sewerage facilities was started at a cost of more than 28 million saudi riyals. the company stressed that it continues to expand its system to connect more properties, as it started the implementation of the sewerage services project in the eastern province at a cost of more than 31 million saudi riyals, where separate lines will be implemented to serve a number of districts in the cities of dammam and al-khobar and al-ahsa governorate. nwc noted that these projects are a continuation of what it announced in may 2024 that it has started implementing 12 projects at a cost of 1.5 billion saudi riyals. nwc noted that it is continuing its efforts to strengthen the water distribution system, eliminate environmental damage, and achieve water security and environmental balance. nwc stressed that it continues to implement its strategic plans to increase operational efficiency in the water and environment sectors according to the highest standards of quality and performance to achieve the goals of the kingdom's vision 2030.​​

News nwc announces its readiness to receive madinah visitors with a strategic storage of +2.6m m3

the national water company (nwc) has announced its readiness to serve pilgrims visiting the prophet's mosque and religious shrines in madinah, as part of its operational plan (for the second season) for hajj 1445h. the plan includes a strategic water storage of more than 2.6 million cubic meters.the company confirmed that more than 1,200 employees from its technical, engineering and administrative staff are ready to oversee the operations, which include the distribution of more than 610,000 m3 of water per day, at a continuous pumping rate of 24/7 in the prophet's mosque, the central area, and the religious shrines.nwc has pointed out that all water networks and reservoirs are subject to continuous testing to ensure the quality and safety of the water. this is conducted by the work crews in the central laboratory and fully equipped mobile laboratories, which perform more than 560 tests daily.the company stated that the monitoring and management of distribution in the water networks in the central region is managed through a smart operating system, by the monitoring and control center. this enables the company's specialists to follow up the service in real time, ensuring its continuity with high quality.nwc reaffirmed its commitment to providing sustainable, high-quality water services that meet the highest standards, achieve its kpis, and serve the guests of madinah in an appropriate manner.​
