To extend its services to more than 20,000 beneficiaries in Abha and Khamis Mushait, Aseer region, the National Water Company (NWC) announced that the Southern Cluster has completed the implementation of two projects for drinking water pipelines and networks, costing over SAR60 million. Aimed at promoting the tourist season in Aseer region, NWC indicated, the implementation of these projects comes within the approved schedules to meet the increasing water demand.
The company said that “the first project, costing more than SAR35 million, was implemented in Abha and included the water networks serving 8 districts: Al-Hayam, Al-Khalidiya, Al-Atharban, Al-Zamil, Qasr Al-Alaya, Al-Areen, and Qura Al Yusuf. The project will directly serve over 10,000 beneficiaries.” The company added that the project included implementation of 55,700 meters of water networks, as well as a 15,170-meter-long transmission pipeline, and a pumping station with a total daily capacity of 1,200 cubic meters.
NWC said that the second project included the implementation of water pipework of various diameters, with a total length of 60,000 meters, costing more than SAR24 million. Serving some 10,000 beneficiaries, the project aims to provide drinking water to 6 districts in Khamis Mushait, including Al-Dharfa, Al-Iskan, Tara, Al-Diyafa, Al-Yamama, and Atoud. This endeavor contributes to the full operation of the project for drinking water networks implementation in East Abha.
The company indicated that such projects are part of its continued efforts to enhance operational efficiency, improve water distribution and delivery to the beneficiaries, in addition to achieving water security and providing sustainable water services across all cities and governorates of the Kingdom, in line with well-planned schedules and high-quality standards. NWC concluded that it is committed to applying the highest quality standards in the implementation of all its projects.
