Today, His Royal Highness (HRH) Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Emir of the Eastern Region, received Dr. Fuad bin Ahmed Alshikhmubarak, CEO of the National Water Company (NWC), in his office. Dr. Alshikhmubarak was accompanied by several company executives.
HRH the Emir praised the support and empowerment the water sector has received from the wise leadership. This support has contributed to the expansion and development of the system, improved the quality of water provided to residents of the Eastern Region, and enhanced its sustainability. These improvements align with the National Water Strategy and contribute to achieving the Kingdom's Vision 2030 goals.
Dr. Alshikhmubarak showcased the water quality improvement projects recently launched by the Emir, which have resulted in the distribution of 1.8 million cubic meters of desalinated water per day in the region. This achievement was made possible by the completion of 12 water projects at a cost of over SR 4 billion. These projects have upgraded the quality of drinking water in the Eastern Region.
The NWC CEO explained that these projects included extending about half a million meters of main water lines and sub-networks. They also involved constructing 40 reservoirs with a total capacity of over 1.6 million cubic meters, distributed across 24 pumping stations. This package of projects has improved the quality of life for the region's population. The company continues to implement development projects to increase coverage efficiency and improve services in all governorates and cities.
Dr. Alshikhmubarak expressed his gratitude to His Royal Highness, the Emir of the Eastern Region, for his support and constant monitoring of the company's projects and expansion work in its water and environmental systems. He stressed that the company continues to implement the projects HRH has laid their foundation stones to increase the water system efficiency and sustainability in the region.
