The National Water Company (NWC) announced that it is working on a plan that includes investment opportunities to implement billions of dollars in future projects to expand water and sanitation services to keep up with the scale of demand and growth and achieve the Kingdom's vision.
Eng. Nemer bin Mohammed Al-Shebl, the CEO of National Water Company, said, "The company's investment portfolio for its infrastructure exceeds (102.96) billion Saudi riyals. They are earmarked for the implementation of more than (1294) projects spread across expansion projects for water and wastewater networks and the construction of water treatment plants and wastewater treatment plants." He called on all interested local and international companies to seize safe investment opportunities in the water sector through the implementation of the water and environmental treatment projects offered by
the company on its website At the Fifth Arab Water Conference, a panel discussion titled (Sustainability of Water Resources in Arid Areas: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a Model), Al-Shebl confirmed that NWC has achieved several successes under the National Water Strategy. He referred the completion of the integration of the water supply sector under the NWC umbrella, where all management contracts (MOMCs) have been signed to increase operational efficiency, as well as the signing of 3 long-term operation and maintenance contracts (LTOMs) for sewage treatment plants, while the rest of the contracts would be signed in the first half of 2024.
Al-Shebl explained that the implementation of the company's privatization programs begins with MOMC and LTOM contracts, as well as the involvement of the private sector in the construction of wastewater treatment plants in cooperation with the Saudi Water Partnerships Company. He pointed out that the company is also working to promote work on a commercial basis by reducing operating costs and maximizing benefits from capital expenditure.
