The National Water Company(NWC), represented by its Eastern Cluster, has increased the coverage of desalinated water to 100% in the city of Al-Ayoun in Al-Ahsa Governorate, to serve more than 72,000 beneficiaries.
"The properties located in the districts of Al-Ayoun city benefiting from 100% water coverage are: Al-Naseem 1 and 2, Al-Sultaniyah 1, 2, 3 and 4, Al-Mu'aizil, Al-Husayma, Al-Dira and Al-Muqribiya districts. This will take place after the completion of the connection works, pumping and distribution of desalinated water from Al-Oyoun reservoirs within the components of the water-network improvement project in Al-Ahsa Governorate, Project No. (5)" the company said.
NWC stated that this is one of the most important quick wins of the projects of the water network improvement program in the Eastern Province. The company stressed that this project comes within its continuous efforts to implement its strategic plans based on its initiatives to increase coverage rates, improve operational efficiency, and meet the increasing demand for desalinated water caused by the comprehensive development in the Eastern Province in general and Al-Ahsa Governorate in particular, and maximize the use of all available resources to achieve water sustainability.
NWC pointed out that the pumping process it recently started will benefit more than 72,000 beneficiaries in the targeted districts. It noted that it is pumping up to 15,000 cubic meters of desalinated water daily, which will gradually escalate to meet all the needs of the residents of these districts, who have become 100% dependent on pumping desalinated water and turning their wells into backup resources.
