NWC issues 1st Sustainability Report on Saudi Water Sector

​The National Water Company (NWC) have issued the first sustainability report. The report reviews the company's notable achievements and initiatives related to sustainability and reflects the company's commitment to environmental and social responsibility, as well as its dedication to building a more sustainable future in line with Saudi Vision 2030. This report is an important step toward transparency and promoting environmental, social, and corporate governance practices.

 
According to NWC, the report was prepared in accordance with the principles of transparency and accountability, as well as the Global Reporting Initiative standards. These standards are widely used in several sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and help institutions align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and meet stakeholder expectations for full disclosure. The report aims to provide stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of the company's sustainability initiatives and contributions to a responsible and resilient future in accordance with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
 
The company stated that water sector in the Kingdom has undergone a strategic transformation, shifting from addressing the challenges of natural resource scarcity to adopting an integrated model that ensures the sustainability of these resources and achieves water security. NWC noted that the water system has adopted appropriate frameworks and fundamentals to develop infrastructure and manage demand efficiently and reliably, keeping pace with the growing demand for water services and pursuing the goals of Saudi Arabian Vision 2030 and the National Water Strategy (NWS).
 
The sustainability report reviewed the strategic steps the company has taken to achieve sustainability in its operations, aiming to improve service quality and adopt innovative solutions through projects that balance meeting the demand for water and sanitation services with ensuring their sustainability. The company considers sustainability the cornerstone of all its strategic decisions, enabling it to pursue new horizons of development and innovation. NWC has worked to enhance service quality and improve the customer experience, as well as to activate various means of communication with stakeholders to build effective strategic partnerships.
