The Water Distribution Sector (WDS) has completed preparations for Ramadan and the summer season, during which it will distribute a record of nearly 10 million cubic meters of water a day Kingdom-wide, in order to account for the expected peak in demand.
Eng Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Mowkley, CEO of NWC, said that the sector – comprising the regional operations of NWC together with other service providers — had prepared its water management and distribution plans early this year, in order to guarantee continuous services. The plan included making sure that all personnel, equipment and emergency services were ready, and all potential risks had been assessed, with robust solutions put in place to deal with them.
"This year we will be providing 500,000m3 a day more than last year. Our preparations have made sure that customer service centers are properly prepared – it is they who receive reports and pass them to the maintenance teams who work round-the-clock to make sure any issues are addressed appropriately and quickly," said Al-Mowkley.
The emergency number for complaints about water services is 939, while the unified hotline for NWC's directorates of water services in Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, and Taif can be reached on 920001744. Both lines are operational 24 hours a day to ensure that any maintenance or emergency issues are promptly dealt with. The regional offices and NWC can also be reached via their social media accounts.
Water will be distributed regionally in keeping with the new structure of the water sector. The central sector will receive 3,150,000m3 a day; 2,150,000m3 will go to the western sector; 1,874,931m3 to the northern and north-west sectors; 721,800m3 to the southern sector; and 2,050,000m3 to the eastern sector.
