Districts and villages in Al-Baha Province receive unprecedented boost in continuous water supply

The National Water Company's (NWC) Southern Cluster announced that it received an additional amount of desalinated water that is allotted to Al-Baha Province.

The Southern Cluster Senior General Manager, Eng Abdullah S. Al-Amari, said that the amount of desalinated water supplied to the region has doubled, with a 100 percent increase, reaching 80,000 m3 per day. Aided by production from dam and well water purification plants, the total amount distributed in the region reached a daily 160,000 m3 of water for the first time.

Al-Amari added that water networks are designed to accommodate such increase, with more than 384 km of pipework that connect 40,000 meters and serve over 278,000 inhabitants across the region. The continuous supply, however, increased to 20 hours a day in 399 districts and villages; and 24/7 in 152 ones. The served areas included districts and villages in Al-Baha city and the governorates of Baljurashi, Al-Mandaq, Bani Hasan and Al-Aqiq, as well as other villages covered by distribution networks.

The Senior General Manager said that the project will improve the quality of water services and enhance the operational efficiency and performance of water distribution. Additionally, it will increase network coverage, and in turn improving the quality of life, a major objective of the Saudi Vision 2030.

"This achievement greatly helps to keep up with the growing demand on desalinated water, increase services coverage and enhance the efficiency and stability of operational activities during high demand seasons." The project, adds the NWC official, also protects environment via reducing dependence on alternative water sources including dams, wells and, hence, water tankers. The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) unites efforts with NWC to increase desalinated and purified water production capacity. The goal is to enhance the daily distribution operations and the readiness of strategic reservoirs to respond to the needs of the region. Our teams feature national professionals who work hard to overcome challenges to deliver an accomplishment that realizes higher quality of life for the citizens of our generous country. Our efforts are channeled towards achieving the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030 and NTP initiatives developed by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. The end goal is to reinforce the water security system, drive water resources sustainability and deliver potable water to beneficiaries nationwide.
