NWC implements 225 projects for 1.8M beneficiaries in 2020.


The National Water Company "NWC" declared that it implemented 225 projects in 2020 that contributed to delivering water and wastewater services to more than 1.8 Million new beneficiaries in the Kingdom regions.


The Company revealed that the completed projects included 107 water projects, the implementation of 3,178 kilometers of water distribution networks, 72,253 new water connections, an increase in the capacity of sewage treatment plants "STP" by 138,528 cubic meters per day, and an increase in water storage capacity of 472,000 cubic meters, resulting in a rise in water coverage to 83.88% in all regions of the Kingdom. 


The company also carried out 107 sanitary drainage projects, including the implementation of 1,500 km of sewerage networks, 60,694 sewage connections, an increase in the capacity of sewage treatment plants by 118,100 cubic meters to reach a 58.13% sanitation coverage rate across the Kingdom, and 11 support projects. 


"The implementation of these projects has been an exceptional year for the whole world as a result of the Corona pandemic, which has posed unprecedented challenges to the construction sector, the implementation of capital projects affected by the supply chains, as well as operational challenges in project sites, but the company has been able to continue its work and implement its projects, and to provide water and sanitary treatment services of high quality to more than 34 million people in the Kingdom." Eng. Mohammed Al-Mowkely, NWC's CEO, said.


He stressed that the company has maintained operations, and continued to build infrastructure projects, and never stopped working to improve the quality of its services, and raise operational efficiency, indicating that it continues to implement a number of projects during the current year, pointing out that the company plans to complete 217 projects this year, indicating that the project sector of the company works in accordance with the best practices and methodologies adopted for professional management of projects, through policies, procedures and performance indicators measured periodically, to meet the governance requirements adopted in the Company, and achieve the Saudi Arabian Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program "NTP".
