In coordination with Eastern Region Traffic NWC partially closed 18th Street in Al-Qazzaz and Al-Adama districts to implement drinking water quality improvement project in Dammam

The National Water Company (NWC), represented by its Eastern Cluster, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Traffic in the Eastern Region, announced the closure of the 18th Street in Al-Qazzaz and Al-Adama districts in Dammam, to start the installation of a strategic water line with a length of 1500 meters. 

The closure will start on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from the intersection of King Fahd Road to the intersection of King Khalid Street, to complete the extension of strategic water lines to improve water quality in the Eastern Region. 

The company said: “The first phase of the closure will be 720 meters long, including the partial closure of three traffic lanes and the parking area with the continuity of the traffic of vehicles north in the right traffic lane. This phase includes two parts, the first part will be from the intersection of King Fahad Road to the intersection of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Street north, in addition to closing the entrance to King Fahd Road at the 18th Street, and diverting vehicles heading to the 18th Street through Prince Bandar bin Abdulaziz Street to reach 18th Street. The second part from the intersection of Hospital Street to the intersection of Prince Nasser bin Abdulaziz Street north, and this will be implemented in 65 days.

NWC explained that the second phase will include the partial closure of 730  meters for three traffic lanes and the parking area, with the continuation of the movement of vehicles north in the right traffic lane. The company indicated that this phase includes two parts, the first from the intersection of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Street to the intersection of Hospital Street in the north, and the second part from the intersection of Prince Nasser bin Abdulaziz Street to the intersection of King Khalid Street, North.  NWC noted that it will implement this phase within 70 days.
 

The company pointed out that within the previous two phases, the intersection of 18th Street with Hospital Street will be installed in several parts, the implementation of horizontal drilling works for the intersection of 18th Street with King Fahad Road, and the construction of valve rooms to connect to the strategic water line in Ibn Khaldoun district, with the continued closure of the entrance to King Fahd Road at the 18th Street until the completion of the horizontal drilling works with the end of the second phase works.
 
      
NWC stated that it will complete all phases of the work within 135 days from the start of the work. The company stressed that these efforts come in an endeavor to improve services and provide desalinated water services to ensure the quality of life for citizens and residents of the Eastern Region, in accordance with the water strategies and the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
