Since early time, NWC began taking full preparation procedures to cope with water problems in Jeddah city during summer season of 2010. NWC granted its approval to a new operational plan for the coming summer which includes pumping 955000 sqm/day of water from Al-Faisaliah, Breiman, Qoaizah and Khulaiss valley stations, as well as increasing the capacity of water storing to 800000 sqm/day, and coordinating with SWCC to increase its desalinated water supply to Qoaizah district reservoirs during May 2010 to until it reaches 150000 sqm/day. It also concentrated on strengthening of water supply by laying down a water pipeline conveying water from Breiman reservoirs to north districts of Jeddah.
NWC plan also includes the management of the network in actual times by using of SCADA to control and strengthen pressure in several districts using pressure-reducing valves, increasing water storage capacity, exerting all efforts to detect and fix visible and invisible leaks, developing a mechanism for supplying customers with needed quantities of water during summer season. SCADA system is also used to integrate and analyze the data of (241) household meters to measure its pressure and operators, at the same time, will follow-up those data around the clock during the week. Moreover, the operational plan aims to the establishment of new reservoirs in Qoaizah district, with a capacity of 90000 sqm, and Breiman district, with a (4 × 140000 sqm), and intensifying Call Center efforts to receive requests for water tankers delivery in order to save customers' times to refrain visiting filling stations. As well, the internal procedures of those stations shall be improved to reduce the waiting time spent by customers at stations, a different-sized and different-categorized water tankers shall be secured to meet the different needs of water by them by preparing and prequalifying filling stations and its roads to achieve a smooth workflow.
It should be noted that Call Center in Jeddah city has made certain surveys for 900 post-paid customers by the end of the holy month of Ramadan 1430H; the results showed that 98% of customers believe that services provided by Call Center are very good, and 83% of them considered the service of water tankers delivery is excellent.
